Do you have a supporters’ club?
I hitched a ride with a friend sometime ago and we got talking about exercise.
He is middle-aged and slim built.
I’m not sure if he has six packs, but he happens to be hypertensive and comes from a hypertensive family.
He decided to start exercising regularly and his blood pressure has been controlled.
He said something that struck me – his sibling became his exercise partner.
The role of support can not be overemphasised when it comes to exercise.
Family is support! Support is family!!
Subsequent to a post I shared earlier, I will be sharing on MORE BENEFITS OF EXERCISE:
1. Gives you restful sleep. Boy, I love to sleep, boy!
One of the best ways to improve the quality of your sleep is to exercise.
When I am anxious and can’t get good sleep, exercise does relax me.
It is such a cheap medical treatment and a free method of prevention.
Exercise is pocket friendly, saves you a lot of money.
Frugal is the new cool.
2. Exercise helps prevent colds.
Research shows that aerobic exercise such as brisk walking, jogging, or cycling boosts the body’s defenses against viruses and bacteria during the cold season.
Though I love to watch people cycling, I can’t for the life of me balance a bicycle to ride.
I am still learning the ropes, though.
3. Exercise increases lung capacity.
As we age, our lung capacity diminishes.
Activities for the heart and exercise can combat this because aerobic exercise increases lung capacity.
So, while our lung capacity may continue to diminish, it does so at a slower pace.
4. Increases your energy level.
Aerobic exercise in your target heart rate range will actually increase your energy.
Most people have the excuse that they are simply too tired to exercise; they dont realize aerobic exercise can dramatically increase their energy.
By the way, this is a great substitute for those who abuse ‘Power Horse’ energy drink.
5. Exercise reduces depression.
It increases serotonin and dopamine levels, which helps to relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Hopefully, all these benefits have inspired you to start an exercise routine immediately, if you don’t already have one.
I love you, I love your health.
