Somewhere in Ikorodu, Lagos State a woman was in the final stages of labour.
Labour was becoming longer than necessary and after much effort, the baby refused to come out.
The so called nurse attending, viciously stuck her hand into the port of entry and out came the baby’s hand along with hers. The result was an unimaginable gory scene. Lagos State intervened by closing down the shack immediately.
Receiving proper antenatal care from qualified professionals cannot be overemphasised. The overwhelming presence of quacks and quackery will make another day’s story.
Only receive antenatal care from qualified professionals at government approved centres.
If you are pregnant, Your wife is pregnant or you’ve got a pregnant loved one; do ensure to register for antenatal care in more than one centre if possible.
Plan your delivery options long before your due date based on:
1.Funds available.
2.Availability of means of transport.
3.Choice of where to deliver.
4.Alternative choice of where to deliver as a back-up plan.
5.If and when labour becomes difficult and too long, you may need to be referred to a larger centre.
