I woke to missed calls on my phone. Ah!Ah! Why could big bros call me so late at night?
I panicked and returned the call.
Below is our conversation:
Him: Madam, you don’t pick calls anymore. I got tired of calling you. I had an
Me: I’m sorry sir. I went to bed rather early. What is the matter?
Him: I am experiencing intense chest pain and it’s been on for some hours. I
could not sleep.
Me: Sorry about that. Is it your asthma? What did you do about it? Have you
used your inhaler? Did you get to the hospital?
Him: I went to the hospital to see a doctor o! I was given asthma aborting
medications, but I am not getting better! In fact I don’t feel it is asthma.
Me: Okay, sorry about that. You are a known asthmatic and I’m sure you
know when you have asthma. I go on to ask further questions. However,
from his explanations I did not think he had an asthma attack.
Well, I said: Chest pain has many causes and the cause needs to be
discovered. I only hope it is not what I am thinking.
I happened to fly down to the town he was in and popped in to see him. I got
an examination done.
Well, he was experiencing pain in the area of the heart. I explained that this
was more serious that he thought. I requested some tests to be done and
voila, there were some abnormal results that pointed to the source of pain
being from his heart.
Chest pain can be fatal if tackled lightly
Seek a second medical opinion if you feel the need to.
Get your routine/periodic medical check up done, especially if you are 40
Some diseases could manifest in sinister ways.
