The temperature came down to 12 degrees Celsius though, there was no snow to show for it here it Kano.
I was beginning to feel feverish and I had difficulty swallowing. That night I drank hot ginger tea like a fish. I woke up the next morning with a hot head and a hot neck. I was coughing up some ugly and horrible smelly stuff. I couldn’t even drink my beloved tea any more.
I decided to look into the mirror to see if I could understand what was happening in my neck.
Guess what! The whole place was painted sore. It looked like I had come down with tonsillitis.
Aww! I did not get any warning signs. ‘Physician heal thyself’ did not even cross my mind. I sped to the hospital to get a consultation from a colleague.
Tonsillitis is pain, redness, swelling and hotness from injury or infection of the pharyngeal tonsils located in the back wall of the mouth. It could extend to the adenoid and the lingual tonsils.
Any adult can develop tonsillitis.
Adults with sudden onset of tonsillitis may have any of these symptoms:
6.Painful lymph nodes on the sides of the neck.
If you have any of these, kindly go see your family physician.
I love you, I love your health.
